This lot contains:
A complete original and traditional Marker women costume.
Entirely hand sewn and embroidered. All parts are photographed, please see photos.
Marker costume:
The day to day costume of the Marker women consists of a white cotton jacket with sleeves in red/white/black striped cotton. On top a beautiful floral 'middelde', a kind of corset, with boning. On top of that is a kind of bolero (fronts) with red fronts and back of silk in blue, green or purple.
On the chest is a rectangular piece of fabric pinned, made of coloured cotton. Under the black wool upper skirt, a multicoloured underskirt is worn. Outdoors a blue “boezel” is worn on top of the skirt (the “kerre blauwtje”). This has at the top a checked piece of (“het stikkie”) and is bright in colour.
Please note that the condition is very good, however this is the original worn clothing from the time that modern washing machines were not yet there.
There are e.g. some spots on the white shirt, not visible when wearing it or worn by a manequin.
The lot only contains the clothes and hat, not the mannequin or the head.
