Piaggio Vespa 98 - 1947
The first act of Corradino D’Ascanio, the father of the most famous scooter in the world. In 1946 the first Vespa left Piaggio establishments in Pontedera. Italy was still under the rubble but families found the solution to mobility in this handy scooter. It became the only motorised vehicle of many Italian households. Easy and practical, steel bodywork and 2-stroke engine with forced air-cooling: the first Vespa set out rules for what has become the technical and stylistic design masterpiece on the road for over 70 years.
