The SONY PS-X3 is a class record player from the High End series by SONY. Direct Drive and Quartz driven. As far as Hi Fi qualities this turntable can be compared to other high class players. The design of the player is exclusive thanks to the use of materials, colours, visible bottom and a turntable with round air pads. The building construction is robust thanks to the full aluminium chassis placed on heavy legs. The legs are adjustable for perfect horizontal placement. The components used are of high quality. The chassis is fully made of an aluminium alloy, even the bottom is made of aluminium, see photos. The weight is nearly 11 kg. Thanks to the full aluminium chassis and the sturdy adjustable feet this turntable is insensitive to vibrations from outside. The drive of the engine is Direct Drive, Quartz controlled (by SONY referred to as Xlock), a brushless motor and servo controlled. That means no noises from the engine and that the engine keeps spinning excellent at 33 and 45 rpm. This SONY class turntable features a Technics headshell and very good Technics 270 element and a good needle. The chassis has two notches for a spare head shell. There is also an additional counter weight available, in case you want to mount a heavy element. The original SONY 45 rpm adapter is included as well. The operation of this SONY X 3 is manual. This turntable is cleaned and polished. The chassis has withstood the test of time and has hardly any signs of wear. The dust cover is in one piece and has the inevitable signs of wear. The dust cover and possibly hinges can be easily disassembled. Equipped with a solid original SONY interlink and a loose and thick power cable that by connecting another power cable the sound quality can be further increased. In case of shipping the turntable will be well packed in a double box with extra packaging for fragile elements. The total package will weigh around 13 kg.
