Philips tube radio type 695A-06 - RONDO from 1936, beautifully restored, complete and playing

This Philips type 695A06 came on the market in 1936 and was part of the ‘Symphonic series’ under the name ‘Rondo’. According to the Philips-ads from that time, the unit stood out by its ‘characteristic-true-to-life sound and the extremely easy tuning’. The price at the time amounted to 145 guilders. The radio device Philips 695A features 3 bands, being LW, MW and SW. The unit also has a signal strength indicator (does not work), an inverter for net antenna, sound switch and tone control, fine tuning and connections for an external pick up and extra (high-resistance) speaker. This radio receiver unit was completely checked and, where necessary, authentically restored/repaired and in playing condition. Also the beautiful wooden casing was nicely retouched. The tube layout is as follows: AK2, AF3, ABC1, AL4 and AZ1. The radio plays on all bands. The original cord was worn away, it now comes with a new cord with a textile sleeve, plug and socket. This ‘grandpa’ of 82 years old naturally has signs of wear, but these are certainly not disturbing. By setting the mains carrousel on 245 volts 50 Hz, the radio will be ready to play and resistant to any further future power increases. A good long wire antenna is highly recommended for AM reception. The wooden casing has the following dimensions: 460x 390x320 mm. The weight is 16 kg. Because of the fragility due to the weight and dimensions, the unit is preferably picked up in Amersfoort, the Netherlands. Possible shipping is possible and will be done properly packaged and by registered mail.
