Produced from 1937 to 1941, and again after the war from 1946 to 1955, the BMW 327 is a superb coupé or road cabriolet. Powerful and stylish, it announced the Grand Touring positioning which continues to make BMW's success today. After the war, the factory in Eisenach was located in East Germany. Thus, for reasons of intellectual property, the models produced in this factory from 1952 no longer bore the BMW (Bayerische Motoren Werke) emblem but that of the EMW (Eisenacher Motoren Werke) with a logo on a red background instead of the traditional BMW logo on a blue background. The copy from 1954 presented here is precisely an EMW model. The differences of the BMW models are limited to a few details: bumper, bonnet opening, badge, etc. As its name 327/28 indicates, this is a high performance version equipped with the 1971 cm3 6-cylinder engine with hemispherical cylinder head of the 328 roadster. This vehicle has been owned for ten years by a prestigious automobiles professional, formerly a tuner employed by the Parisian garage Roger Loyer. It was completely restored by the specialist Balsa BMW (first prize of the 1958 Paris compagnonnage).
