Roger Guérin vase - Grès Bouffioulx
The vase is pretty old. The vase was made in the studio of Roger Guérin (1896-1954) who together with Edgard Aubry (1880-1943) was one of the leading ceramists in the first half of the 20th century in Bouffioulx, Belgium. In Bouffioulx, nearby Charleroi, stoneware or grès has been made since the late Middle Ages. This hard type of ceramic is fired at more than 1,250 degrees Celsius. This vase is made of grès. Roger Guérin made nice models during the 1920s and 1930s of which this is an example.
