Nevertheless the AMC was rewarded with 2 out of 3 stars by the German STEREO in october 1994. As the MK II from 2012 is still available, this first version has been available from 1994 continuously and unchanged. This is exactly what the makers are looking for, offering long living, affordable hi-fi. The makers are Peter Bart and name giver Amcli Lin. An Anglo-American-Taiwanese duo. As is written on the back the amplifier has been designed in London and Los Angeles and produced in Taiwan. The preamp switches fast and sounds immediately nice, which gets better after a warm-up of a few minutes. The international audio press has had its judgments regarding this amp, but the sound quality After te expert revision there are no problems to expect. The knobs on the front have a rubber-like anti-slip layer. This feels and controls nice, but also holds dust. The volume control is double (left/right), so balance can be adjusted. There is a direct switch, which gets the non-necessary circuits such as tone control out of the signal way as to achieve a most pure sound. The fine transistor Phono stage is suitable for MM cartridges. Who wants to use an MC cartridge will need a pre preamp or a step-up transformer. I can provide those. The German testers, astonished to find a transistor phono stage in a tube preamplifier, rated it as “erstaunlich gut” (amazingly good). Year of manufacture: 1994 43 x 12 x 29 cm.
